Katie Lunden, LMHC, NATC
Hello and welcome. I’m Katie Lunden, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Narcissistic Abuse Treatment Clinician (NATC) with a private practice near Seattle in Bellevue, Washington. I’ve been a therapist since 2005, though I’ve been a “helper” and curious about people my whole life. After graduating with a MA in Marriage and Family Counseling in 2005, I delved into helping people in recovery from opiate addiction. I then spent ten years working in a community mental health setting helping people with a wide variety of presenting problems. I’ve been in private practice since 2018.
While I am well-rounded in my ability to help people with a range of challenges, I’m most passionate about helping people on their journey to heal unresolved trauma (such as narcissistic abuse or emotional neglect).
Psychotherapy Services
I offer individual therapy to adults, primarily looking at challenges through a relational and family systems lens. The more I have observed about my work with clients over the years, the more I’ve noticed an underlying theme that at its most basic level is the yearning for connection, belonging, authenticity, and intimacy with others.
It is incredibly rewarding to help people discover how to create and sustain authentic healthy connections they are seeking, both the relationship you have with your inner self as well as in relationship with others. I love to accompany people on their journey of personal growth with the hope that in the process they can have the kind of healthy, enjoyable, meaningful relationships they treasure most.
Approach to Therapy
Finding a good fit with a therapist is essential to great therapy. Research shows (and I also firmly believe) the therapeutic relationship is one of the most powerful factors for successful outcomes in therapy. With that said, I tend to utilize a combination of the following frameworks in our work together:
- Family systems
- Attachment theory
- Relational
- Humanistic and person centered
- Motivational interviewing
